Terms & Conditions

Here at Scooby’s Shelter, we ask all individuals and organisations working with us to agree to our Terms and Conditions. It is important to us that everyone understands their responsibilities and that the welfare of our dogs remains the highest priority at all times.

By engaging with Scooby’s Shelter, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

1. Purpose

These Terms & Conditions outline the responsibilities, expectations, and standards for anyone fostering, adopting, transporting, or otherwise working with dogs from Scooby’s Shelter.

Our work is strictly non-profit and focused entirely on animal welfare, transparency, and responsible rehoming.

2. Nature of Our Work

All contributions or payments made to Scooby’s Shelter are used solely to cover the actual costs of care, including food, housing, veterinary treatment, and general welfare.

No profit is generated from any activity related to the dogs.

Scooby’s Shelter provides temporary care only and does not assume ownership of any dog. Legal ownership and full financial responsibility remain with the originating association or rescuer for the entire duration of the dog’s stay, until final adoption or transfer is completed under agreed terms.

3. Care Contributions

All dogs placed at Scooby’s Shelter are subject to a mandatory foster fee (care contribution). This fee is required to cover the ongoing costs of the dog’s stay.

This includes:

  • Daily care and supervision

  • Food and shelter

  • Health and welfare monitoring

  • Photos and videos for adoption promotion

All contributions must be agreed in advance and paid as scheduled.

Failure to maintain agreed payments may result in the dog being required to be removed from Scooby’s Shelter immediately, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Alternatively, Scooby’s Shelter reserves the right to seize the dog into their care without further notice. In such circumstances, Scooby’s Shelter shall not be obligated to provide any updates or information to the rescuer or associated organisation.

4. Veterinary Care

All dogs receive routine treatments, including vaccinations, deworming, and flea prevention, which are recorded accordingly.

In emergency situations, Scooby’s Shelter reserves the right to seek immediate veterinary care without prior approval in order to protect the animal’s welfare.

All veterinary costs, including routine, emergency, and any additional or unexpected treatments, remain the full financial responsibility of the originating association or rescuer.

If a dog arrives with incorrect or missing documentation, new documentation will be issued where necessary. The associated costs for this will be the responsibility of the originating association or rescuer.

5. Transport & Collection

All dogs must be collected directly from Scooby’s Shelter. We do not meet transport at alternative locations.

Anyone collecting a dog must provide the appropriate documentation to allow legal transfer and registration.

Scooby’s Shelter is not responsible for arranging or coordinating transport under any circumstances unless explicitly agreed in writing.

6. Responsibilities of Adopters, Fosters, and Partners

Anyone taking responsibility for a dog must:

  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable local laws and regulations

  • Provide appropriate care, housing, and supervision

  • Arrange suitable transport and relocation where necessary

It is the sole responsibility of the association or rescuer to research and comply with all import requirements, regulations, and legal obligations in the destination country. Scooby’s Shelter accepts no responsibility for this.

Scooby’s Shelter is not responsible for arranging or resolving any alternative solutions if a dog does not meet the entry requirements of the intended destination country. This remains the full responsibility of the association or rescuer.

If a dog cannot remain in its placement for any reason, the responsible party must arrange an alternative solution.

Scooby’s Shelter is not obligated to take the dog back or cover any related costs.

7. Behaviour & Health

While Scooby’s Shelter provides all known information about each dog, we cannot guarantee behaviour, temperament, or future health.

Any issues arising after the dog leaves the shelter become the responsibility of the association or rescuer.

8. Liability

Responsibility for the dog transfers upon collection or handover.

Scooby’s Shelter is not liable for:

  • Any incidents involving the dog after it leaves the premises

  • Any costs, damages, or claims arising thereafter

9. Data Protection

All personal data is handled securely and used only for necessary operational purposes.

Information may be shared with relevant third parties (such as veterinarians or authorities) where required and in accordance with data protection laws.

10. Compliance

All parties agree to cooperate with any lawful inspections, checks, or requests from relevant authorities.

11. Agreement & Acceptance

By working with Scooby’s Shelter, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
